BOLOGNA - EMILIA ROMAGNABologna is the capital of Emilia Romagna and can sometimes be referred as the "Red Bologna" as the centre of the political Left in Italy, or as "La Grassa" (The Fat) because of its delicious cuisine. Bologna has a beautifully preserved medieval city centre and it's here that you can find some of the best food markets in the world. Having the oldest University in the world this is still a very popular university city and it's full of students and intellectual life with great galleries and museums, nice bars and restaurants and beautiful architecture wherever you look. The country side is full of towns and smaller cities and you never get tired exploring new things every day. And when you do there are wonderful beaches on the east side , i.e. Rimini, Riccione and Cattolica.
