PISTICCI CASTLE
The highest and also the most antique part of Pisticci is “Rione Terravecchia”, about 394 m above the sea. It is here that the castle of Pisticci is situated with 360 degree panorama over the surroundings where you can see villages like Tursi, Craco, Ferrandina, Stigliano, the high mountain Pollino, the Appenini and the whole golf of Taranto. The first thing one know about the castle is from year 1000 when the Norman duke, Roberto, was living there. Today only parts of the castle remain but still it is composed of 550 sqm. It consist of two floors with a lot of rooms, fire places and a big tower, “torre Bruni”. All of it is in need of renovation and no bathroom or kitchen exists. Permission exists to construct a Bed & Breakfast, restaurant, Pension or just used to live in.
When you buy a castle in Italy you get from the Italian state :
30-50 % contribution for renovation work
25 % contribution of the taxes for the purchase at the notary where the final deed is done
Further more you do not have to pay for: Mortgage interests
ICI (annual tax when owning a property in Italy)
